One Fine Day

Do y'all ever have one of those days: the sun is bright, your generally tiresome job (sorry, coworkers) is fun, your friends are everywhere? That day for me was yesterday. After working for the morning, I took a lunchtime break to watch Courtney's "Business First" 40 under 40 ceremony. I was joined at Studio 54, really Table 54, by Hunter, Amy, Elizabeth, and Allison for the festivities. As 39 other people were being honored, many other friends were there. JLL was well-represented, as was Transy. Aside from the obvious delight of seeing Sug receive her award/bling, the highlight of the event for me was hiding my snicker when remembering a particularly scurrilous story about one of the other recipients. Sorry, I just cannot tell you.

Upon returning to work I went to assess one of my favorite students. If I ever open "Miss Reece's Home for Children Whose Parents Should Be Elsewhere," she gets the two-spot. (The Little Pimp has first dibs.) Anyway, I went in her room to get her and got a big hug from a new student. He has motor delays, causing his arms to get stuck around my head. Bad news for my hair, too cute to complain. The little princess and I went to do some work. Afterward, we read our mutually favorite book, "Fancy Nancy." We called each other "Dahling" and giggled like twelve-year-olds at a Jonas Brothers concert. It was so good to see her smiling and silly.

After work I had just enough time before going to Harolds for a glass of wine, I mean soup ;) because I'm responsible, with the girls at Club Grotto. I felt just like Carrie Bradshaw again. Not even the Vegas pimps posing as kiosk workers at the mall could dampen my spirits as they tried to hinder my way to Harry's.

When I got home I learned from Christy Schmidt that the GL is indeed reopened, courtesy of James Nisbet and Harry Sommerville, and that my picture is, um, on the wall! I will be checking this out on Saturday as soon as I get to Lexington. I wish myself, and all of you, many more days like yesterday.

2. Oh, please tell me! I won't tell anyone, I swear!
3. Club Grotto...sigh...
Thanks for the laughs, Jennifer. Reading is always just like listening to you tell a story in person...delightful! Love to you...
