Never Wear a Bikini to Water Aerobics

Whew, this summer! I finally figured out why I felt so bad...hips and back hurting all the time. After numerous doctors, my friend GiGi recommended a colleague and I got a diagnosis. The bad news is I have to manage a restricted diet, and I have to do therapy and a pain cocktail for six weeks. Let's hope BCPS is understanding. The good news is...TENS machine. I pick it up tomorrow. Electronic pain management, you deserve a round of applause.

Also, two weeks after I rejoined the gym, the doctor says absolutely not. No cardio, no core work, no pilates. I violated his orders and immediately knew why he told me not to go. Sore for days. After serious negotiation, he relented. I can exercise, as long as I do it in the water.

Luckily, Milestone has water aerobics all day, every day. Today I went to low impact. I don't really have serious swimwear, so I wore my tankini. (And it was fine. No wardrobe malfunction.) Actually, the whole class was fine. I just don't really fit in with my classmates, some of whom had to be lowered into the water via electronic chair. Four of the ladies stood in a circle and chatted while we exercised. One lady simply leaned against the wall. The whole time.

I have two favorite classmates---really it's a toss-up. One lady had a noodle to help her with her work out. Understand, the water is 4'6" deep. Really, I don't see the need for a flotation device. The other lady wore full makeup. I think she may have even been wearing Aphrodite red lipstick! The exercise pool water is 90 degrees. Makeup would certainly melt right off my face, but not hers. Absolute perfection.

While I was doing my low impact class and then Ai Chi (that's Tai Chi in water) a pregnant girl class was taking place in the other pool. I so longed to join the "my age" girls and talk about things. I could probably pass for preggers, especially in a swimsuit. The problem is...just think of all the rumors.

Turns out, even the water class hurt. What to do? It's too bad sitting in the hot tub and reading doesn't burn calories.
